The annual Back to School Blitz, an event which collects school supplies, new clothes and hygiene items for needy students heading back to school, will be from 6 to 10 a.m. Friday in the Courier & Press parking lot, 300 E. Walnut St.
Organizers also will collect monetary donations. The needed clothing items include new jeans, shirts, socks, underwear and shoes of all sizes.
Organizers stressed that items are not being given away on Friday; they are only being collected to replenish the Parent-Teacher Association Clothing Bank at Washington Middle School.
Checks should be made payable to PTA Clothing Bank.
The Clothing Bank will serve more than 1,000 children in the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. this year.
The Back to School Blitz is sponsored by the Courier & Press Newspaper in Education program, WTVW-Fox7 and WJLT-FM 105.3. The radio station do a live broadcast.
